Overview

A coastline-first loop with quiet bays, sea cliffs and pilgrimage paths. You’ll circle the Izu Peninsula for surfy coves and hot springs, then cross to the Kii Peninsula for the Kumano Kodo trails, Nachi Falls, and Japan’s southernmost Honshū coastline at Kushimoto. Finish with an optional detour up to Mount Kōya (temple lodgings) before returning towards Tokyo. Expect ~1,200 km over 12–14 days, mixing scenic B-roads with easy expressways.
