Overview
This route follows Japan’s southern coastline and the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea, famous for its island art scene, bridges, and mountain gorges. It’s a journey of contrasts: contemporary art installations on Naoshima, quiet valleys in Shikoku, and the moving history of Hiroshima. The loop covers about 1 350 km and suits a two-week trip, mixing coastal roads with mountain passes and car-ferry crossings between islands.
