Tokyo → Chiba Coast (Kujukuri & Onjuku Beaches) Distance: ≈ 130 km Driving time: 2½ – 3 h Cross Tokyo Bay via the Aqua-Line and head down the Bōsō Peninsula. The long, sandy beaches of Kujukuri and Onjuku are popular with surfers and families — easy parking, gentle waves, and simple seafood shacks. Walk the dunes at sunset or try a SUP session on calm mornings. Overnight stop: Michi-no-Eki Tomisato – 10 min from Onjuku Beach. Facilities: 24-h toilets, café, local produce, no showers. Nearby onsen: Yoro Onsen (8 km). Chiba → Izu Peninsula (East Coast & Omuro Crater) Distance: ≈ 180 km Driving time: 4 – 5 h Follow the coast west, crossing to the Izu Peninsula, one of Japan’s most scenic drives. Stop at Jogasaki Coast for cliff walks, suspension bridges and sea caves. Ride the chairlift up Mount Omuro for a circular crater view of Fuji across the bay. Overnight stop: Michi-no-Eki Itō Marine Town – seaside complex with baths and restaurants. Facilities: 24-h toilets, restaurants, shops, large public bathhouse with showers on site. Stop at Heda Port for grilled squid and the Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium. From Omaezaki Cape, you can sometimes see both Mount Fuji and the distant Izu Islands. Shizuoka → Kii Peninsula (Coastal Road & Fishing Villages) Distance: ≈ 320 km Driving time: 5 – 6 h Take the coastal expressway west towards Kii Peninsula, where pine forests meet the sea. The small harbours of Owase and Kushimoto feel untouched, with friendly locals and quiet beaches. Visit the Hashigui-iwa sea stacks and Cape Shionomisaki, the southernmost point of Honshū. Walk part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail through cedar forest and visit the small port of Katsuura for fresh tuna. Overnight stop: Michi-no-Eki Nachi. Kii → Tokyo (via Ise & Mount Fuji return) Distance: ≈ 420 km Driving time: 6 – 7 h Head north along the coast via Ise Shrine, then rejoin the expressway east.
